My dad built this awesome shelving unit…..?(Contractors help)?

about four years ago. Slowly its being separating from the wall and when we put hardwood floors in and put stilts under the unit it moved away even farther from the wall. Its now about an inch or a little more from the wall and we are fixing it today. So far we’ve put it up higher which hasn’t helped much. Right now he’s going draw it in with screws but I don’t think its going to work. There’s too many angles.I’ve got a few pics and I’m going to post them but do you have any other ideas?

Hope you can help us!

Not sure, but it looks like this unit was originally sitting on the floor & was caulked to the wall, with no back (wall is the back of the unit).

If that’s about right, find your wall studs & use 2″ angle brackets screwed to the inside top of the unit (3-4 brackets) & through the drywall into the studs.

You’ll need 5/8″ screws into the cabinet top & 1-1/2″ screws into the wall.

You could also put a couple of screws into the inside bottom back of the cabinet (at about a 45 degree angle) into two of the wall studs (you’ll need 2 #8 2-1/2″ screws). You’ll want to pilot drill these two holes to keep from splitting the back of the shelf bottom & you should be able to set these screws a bit.

When you’re finished anchoring the unit back to the wall, carefully caulk the outside edges & you should be good to go.

Good luck…

Smoke from wood burning stove? wrong wrong amount?

Hi, I'm still new to wood stoves to help. My problem is that heat or smoke appears to be blocked near the top. Above my stove is 2 x 4 foot pieces of black pipe signle wall. Not a connector between the stove and the pipe. A connector between the two tubes and one on the roof. Everyone is leaving the smoke in my house. Inside the stove acts as if the smoke can not escape. All pipe is 6 inches. Influenza open. In general, burning wood. Some pines. I creosoke at least twice a month, while burning pine. So what is news drink. In only 3 months. Burn to stop during the day. The stove is a new dual-fuel stove. Save the smoke too. What can stop this?

if you clean the ducts to finish, pine is a writer of true home up to the roof and check the vent to his office.

My New Home: Frequent movers tackle $602,000 ‘fixer-upper’ in Germantown
Phillip and Leigh Allen love a good project. In 13 years of marriage, the couple has lived in seven houses. They buy a house, fix it up, sell it and move on. But they don’t consider themselves flippers — they just thrive on change.
